Making the right choice for your medical tourism……
June 7, 2019Hello everybody, today I decided to share this positive experience of one patient from Denver, Colorado who had amazing results for his facial plastic surgery in Costa Rica.
He started telling me that he was on a tight budget and he wanted a face lift with a nose surgery, which was impossible for him to have it done in the U.S.
For that reason he began to consider having it done abroad. After some research he found Costa Rica to be the most appealing place for him. The second stage of his planning was about which doctor should he go with? He came to the conclusion that mostly he should be consider the following:
a. Is the doctor a board-certified plastic surgeon?
b. What kinds of accreditations does the facility have that they operate in?
c. Does the doctor specialize in my particular treatment? How many surgeries (in this case facial plastic surgery) has he performed?
d. Do they have before and after pictures of previous patients that I can look at?
In other words, what are the standards that the practitioner AND the facility hold themselves to? In addition, it is important to note any fellowships, organizations or special training the doctor may have. Don’t be afraid to ask a lot questions.
There are definitely doctors that are not board-certified plastic surgeons that perform things like injectables, liposuction and even other invasive procedures (like facial plastic surgery) outside and inside the United States.
So when considering medical tourism, the fact is choosing a country like Costa Rica ensures that you can get good information about the practitioner’s qualifications and the facility’s reputation.
This guy did his homework about his choice of a plastic surgeon in Costa Rica, and he balanced credentials, reputation and the facility standards with the cost of the surgery and found the right plastic surgeon for his face lift and nose surgery at the right price. He went through a lot of emails back and forth with the doctor’s patient coordinator about everything related to his procedure until he had all of his questions answered and was able to make the decision to travel and have it done. His mission was to excel in his present job by having the best appearance possible, and affordability – to save money for his procedure.
Is very important to do your homework to get the right doctor and facilities, I have some suggestions for you where you can find reputable Drs. and facilities with American standards:
