Having breast lift also means implants are needed?
June 5, 2020Hello to all my readers, this article offers some advice about what could be the right scenario to meet your personal goals when thinking about getting a breast lift (Mastopexy).
Last year I met a single mother of 2 kids visiting us from Modesto, California. She told me she always thought that, because she needed a breast lift, it automatically meant she must have breast implants along with it. She really wasn’t sure about having breast implants.
She had a consultation with her plastic surgeon and when she came back she called me to say how happy she was because the “rule” of having a breast lift with implants doesn’t always apply! And, this was true in her case.
She said her plastic surgeon’s first question was “are you happy with your breast size?” and she said yes. So he explained to her about the rule of having a breast lift along with implants applies more specifically to women whose breasts feel droopy and the tissue is very loose. There is not always a need to have implants if the breasts are full and firm and you are happy with the size.
So, she was happy that she could get what she really wanted: her breasts lifted with no implants and having a natural appearance.
The doctor told her there were other cases where women thought they didn’t need breast implants however they would benefit from them but in a smaller size in order to give them a little more fullness at the top, which for many patients is their main goal.
That is why it is so important to have a consultation with a really good plastic surgeon who will listen to your goals and explain carefully what is best for you according to your expectations and anatomy. At the end of the day the main objective is to get the best realistic results to achieve the body improvement you want.
I personally wanted to share this with all of you. In plastic surgery, it is not always what we perceive is best for us, that is actually needed. The doctor’s viewpoint is important because it is a third-party, objective opinion.
It is important for us to take our time to choose our plastic surgeon carefully and have all of our questions and concerns answered before proceeding with the procedure.
